Yes, very impressive, Feifei. But why are you singing and dancing?

Feifei
Well, I booked a holiday in a lovely hotel with a fantastic swimming pool.

Rob
And you're celebrating by singing and dancing? Very strange!

Feifei
No Rob, of course not! 我预定了酒店后，发现酒店的游泳池正在装修，不能使用，所以我想取消预定，但是那家酒店不让我取消预定。

Rob
Oh right. So you're just singing about it?

Feifei
因为 Neil 说我应该给酒店打电话，然后 “make a song and dance about my reservation”，所以我想在给他们打电话之前，先练习练习。

Rob
Hold on, Feifei. Don't waste your time. What Neil means by 'to make a song and dance about it', is to make lots of unnecessary fuss about it – basically, to over-react.

Feifei
Ah, got it! 其实在英语里，“to make a song and dance about something” 的意思是 “对一件事情大惊小怪，反应过激，小题大做”。Yes, I can do that!

Rob
Well, go and make that phone call while we listen to some examples.

Examples
My boyfriend makes such a song and dance about doing the housework – but to be honest, it's not that hard!

Don't make a song and dance about it – I only asked you to move seats so I can see the screen.

I can't believe they lost your suitcase at the airport; you should make a song and dance about this and get a proper apology.
