Donovan Wright, Bison ranger
"Aww, man. She's like a ray of sunshine on a dark cloudy day."
This bison calf is the first to be born in UK woodland for thousands of years.
Donovan Wright, ranger
"She's a little ball of energy. And when we get a little bit of rain, she starts sprinting around, and it's [like] 'what's the stuff falling out of the sky?' She's fantastic. She's doing so, so well."
The calf's herd has been reintroduced to this woodland in southeast England as part of a rewilding project.
But the animals have to live in a fenced-off area, at least for now because bison are classed as dangerous animals under UK law.
Mark Habben, UK Woodland Trust
"In time, the greatest aspiration would be to drop the fences. Leave the fencing alone and let the bison move through a native English landscape as they were intended."
For the moment, this herd can roam within an enclosure.
The area spans 200 hectares and conservationists plan to expand it.
The bison push their way through dense undergrowth creating light and space for other wildlife to thrive.
The hope is to stop managing the woodland with machinery and let the bison do the work.
