由新东方集团教师培训与管理中心组织的2014年教学培训师牛津、剑桥访学于3月22日（周六）动员启程。期间培训师会将学习期间对英国文化的感触和对教学方向的思考，以视频、文章等形式发表于集团教师培训与管理中心的多个平台，把学习成果传递给全体新东方教师。以下为王冬老师的访学记录。
When I was in university, the huge amount of information that was delivered to me was confusing and daunting. I was even thinking that I have to jot down everything I heard or read, but this was proved to be ineffective or even impossible. Some students try to take notes by using tape recorder but the tape recorder should never be a substitute.
Note taking is a kind of learning process of putting in information and then writing them back out again.
Good note taking helps you keep focused and extend the attention span. It will also help you remember what you have heard or read. Moreover, by writing down notes, you are paraphrasing the key information in the lecture or book into your own words that you can have better understanding.
Here are some tips for note taking.
NEVER take notes word for word. Note is supposed to be a summary of the lecture of book that can be used as an easy-to-review material. Therefore, you should be critical when you are taking notes, because you need to determine which pieces of information are important and which pieces are not. Write in shorthand (key word, abbreviation, drawing, and signal) helps take notes quicker and more efficiently.
